WELCOME TO THE PRINT CLUB!

PRINT CLUB WELCOMES YOUNG ADVENTUROUS PRINTMAKERS TO EXPLORE THE INNUMERABLE POSSIBILITIES OF PRINTMAKING.

What happens when we print? How do we make marks and create a stamp? How to print on object, t-shirt and post cards? Scratching surfaces, spreading ink, collecting object and printing on different surfaces, WE WILL DO IT ALL!!

We are about to embark on a journey of exploration and creativity!

In May, I am offering 2 days of creative print and art exploration. This time, we will celebrate the warmth, the light, the colours that are back in our life and use all of them in our Prints!

This time in Print Club let’s talk about:

Who are we?

As so many of us, traveled the world, some born here and some elsewhere, we see and meet a variety of people, customs and traditions.

Let’s celebrate our diversity and the wonderful community we all are!

DAY ONE

The first day will start by talking a bit about colours, how they complement each other and the feeling they give us when we combine them together.

We will then get to work by sketching our “home” - our room, our garden or an imaginary island, what is the home we live in.

These sketches will help us create a series of multi-layered, multi coloured Monotypes.

A Monotype is a print created by applying ink with brushes, brayers, cotton swabs and more onto a surface and then pressing our drawing onto paper. Some artist call monotype the “Painterly Print” as it is so loved by painters!

DAY TWO

On our second day, back to our sketches, this time let’s draw ourselves and our family!

Are we all alike? Do we all fit on one drawing? How do I see myself in my family? Am I in the middle or on Daddy’s shoulders?

We will be creating Marbled Paper as our background with lovely colourful inks.

Then with geometrical shaped stamps (we are making ourselves), we will create a wonderful family portrait on top of our background.

Each day we are starting at 10:30, around 12:00 we will have a little lunch break and pick up is at 14:30

The Workshop is surrounded by a large and lovely fenced garden where the kids can run free and enjoy their lunch break.

Hello Parents! What you need to know:

  • All materials will be provided by the Workshop - including tools, inks, paper etc.

  • We will be using our big and cool printing press as well and other pointy needle tools. On our first meeting, I will explain the rules of the studio and the no-nos for the group. Prepare your kiddos and explain to them that there are safety rules in the workshop (just like in school).

  • We are using only safe and non-toxic materials (no turpentine and other solvents). The inks will be oil based inks so I would advise wearing clothes that can get dirty and/or bring an apron.

Please feel free to contact me with any question regarding the tools or materials we will use. If any sensitivity or allergy is known to you, please contact me and we can discuss possible options.
